I have felt SO rubbish about how long I’ve been going back and forth with myself about the next step for Social By Nao…

I’ve wondered where the heck my usually-strong gut instinct has gone.

Dreaded every time someone asked “how’s work?”

BUT.

If ever I was asked “are you happy?” I’ve immediately and truthfully answered ‘yes.’

Because even though business has been feeling tricky, LIFE is good.

A distinction I would absolutely not have been able to make a few years ago…

But now I know:

- There’s so much to be grateful for.

- I can find other places I can build my self-trust.

- The decision about what comes next is within my control to make (gotta remind myself this is a privilege 🥲 !!)

But now I know:

- There’s so much to be grateful for.

- I can find other places I can build my self-trust.

- The decision about what comes next is within my control to make (gotta remind myself this is a privilege 🥲 !!)

After 4 years of self-employment as a social media manager & strategist, I’ve put myself in a notice period. 30 days to reassess, realign & rebuild.

And I’m not suggesting you hit the big dramatic pause button and do the same, but if the online business bubble has been feeling NOISY lately then take this as your reminder to take a breath and think about what it is you *actually* want too.

(It’s probably not £10k months 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Messages like this always feel a bit scary to send, especially this time around when the change feels so big and so unknown.

But I am THE luckiest to work with wonderful, supportive humans who want the best for me. Feeling very grateful to have client relationships like these 💖

There’s nothing to gain from comparing your Day 2 to someone else’s 200. Take the lessons, use it as fuel, as inspiration, as proof of what’s possible.

But if you want to follow in their footsteps you have to stop beating yourself up about being where you are and instead … follow in their footsteps. Baby steps.

Your favourite creator wasn’t perfect on camera the first time they spoke on stories. (And trust me, your dream clients aren’t looking for ‘perfect’).

But they ARE looking so you gotta show up if you want them to find you.

Give yourself the grace of being a beginner.
Take the action to improve.

The OFFLINE reality? Your testimonials are glowing. Your clients are thriving. And you actually get excited about the work you’re doing.

2️⃣ Posted with INTENTION. I made sure every post had a goal behind it. Not “views” or “likes” - an actual business goal.

3️⃣ Let my mission lead my content. Who am I trying to help? What do I want them to know?

4️⃣ Measured success by the metrics nobody else can see. Inquiries, conversations in the DMs that let me know the content resonates.

Because maybe I’m crazy but I really believe your content, for your business, should be about you … 🤷🏻‍♀️

My reply?

“… You can! You ARE speaking to them 1:1. There’s only one person on the other end of the phone listening to what you’re saying…”

And that’s when I realised so clearly that THIS is the exact shift I’m here to help you make 🙌

You do incredible work. Your clients love you. And you know the power of social media.

But there’s a block.

You feel uninspired.
Unsure about what to post.
Overthinking the ideas you *do* have.

My birthday is without fail the most “reflective” day of the year for me, I can’t help but think back over years gone by or what the future might look like - and of course this year was no different.

But when I opened my notes app to write a “30 before 30 list” I got stuck after number 1.

I wrote “Marry my best friend” and couldn’t think of a whole lot else to add 🥹

The last 10 years have been huge - high highs and low lows, building a life I’m SO grateful for. Really, all I want is more of THIS.

This morning I was lucky enough to spend a couple of hours with a gorgeous group of business owners, celebrating the truly wonderful @alice_benham & the launch of ON IT 2026 🎉

If you don’t know (get to know 👀) ON IT is all about working ON your business - so naturally, over a deeeelicious breakfast, Alice challenged us to share what we’ve achieved this year.

The things that were maybe once “wouldn’t it be cool if’s” and have become “isn’t it cool that’s” - thanks to taking the messy action.

For me, 2025 has followed 2 main themes: showing up for the people I love, and having a serious identity shift.

It may not have been a year filled with shiny, gram-worthy milestones but it’s really shown me what MY version of success looks like, and I’m going into 2026 with a much clearer vision and plenty to be proud of in life away from the laptop 💖

@alice_benham - thank you for such an epic morning. Being in that room to hear and celebrate everyone’s wins, not least what a bloody brilliant program you’ve created, was an absolute TREAT.

Say hello to part one of a new mini series, kicking things off with: B-ROLL 📹

B-roll gets a bad rep, and while I do think we have to try harder than ever to capture our audience’s attention, these simple little clips absolutely still have a place in your content process.

So if you can build a bunch of videos to use in content that are just sat in your camera roll waiting to be used, no scripting or filming session required, then that’s going to save Future You a wholeeeee heap of time ✅

Yeah, yeah, strategy 👀

It’s important.

But a content strategy that lives in your Asana is like a candle with no wick. Looks pretty on your shelf, but .. where’s the flame?

When you have the balls to content that feels like YOU? It’s gonna light you UP 💪

You’ll become more memorable because you’re no longer blending in to be like everyone else.

You’ll get enquiries from clients that are an absolute vibe, because they were attracted to your *actual* personality.

You’ll post more consistently because you’ll - dare I say if - be having fun AND save time now that you’re not rewriting your caption 8 times in a bid to sound smarter.

You don’t hate content, you hate feeling like an actress every time you sit down to create. You hate the effort it takes to replicate someone else’s strategy. You hate that you’re shouting into a void and getting nothing back.

So quit acting and talk like YOU.
Build a strategy that works FOR YOU.
Start conversations that YOU are interested in having.

A need for better boundaries.

A craving for fresh air and irl conversations.

Your business, and your online presence, CAN exist alongside those things.

I’ve had clients come to me feeling like they hate their business and actually, they just hated creating content. With a bit of space, they’re now flooded with ideas, love showing up on other platforms while I take care of Instagram & laugh about it.

So I know that it feels so overwhelming when you get in this headspace and you can’t see a way out of it, I KNOW it does.

But put your blinkers on and go back to your why.

Outsource. Get a hobby. Literally, and I say this with love, go touch grass.

Dare to spend a little bit of that profit pot on what’s going to make you feel good - you get to choose to do that 💖
